Why Is the Amount on My Credit Card Statement Different From My LuggageHero Receipt?

Understand why your credit card statement may show a different amount than your LuggageHero or HotelsHero receipt.

Updated this week

Local Currency Payments

LuggageHero operates worldwide and supports payments in multiple currencies, including:
GBP, EUR, USD, CAD, AUD, SEK, NOK, and DKK.

  • The payment currency depends on the region and the storage location.

  • Your payment is always captured in the local currency of the storage location.

Why the Difference Appears

If the final amount on your credit card statement does not exactly match your LuggageHero or HotelsHero receipt, this is usually due to currency conversion rates applied by your bank or card provider.

Banks may use:

  • A slightly different exchange rate than shown in your receipt

  • Additional conversion or foreign transaction fees, depending on your card agreement

What to Do

If you see a difference between the amount charged and your receipt:

  • Check whether the charge was made in a different currency than your home card currency

  • Review your bank or card provider’s currency conversion rates and policies

  • Contact your bank directly for details on conversion charges or fees

Important to Know

  • LuggageHero only charges the final booking amount in the local currency of your chosen location.

  • We do not add hidden currency fees or surcharges.

  • Any difference on your statement comes from your own bank’s conversion process.
