Automatic check-out and missing check-out charges

Why a booking can be closed and charged automatically, what you pay, and why a charge can come later

When you collect your bags, you end your booking on the booking page. If a booking hasn't been ended, we end it for you automatically. This is called automatic check-out, and it makes sure your booking is closed and charged correctly.

When a booking is checked out automatically

  • At the storage location's closing time, if the booking is still active then.

  • Later, if a booking was never marked as collected. Sometimes a booking stays open, for example when the bags were collected but nobody confirmed it on the booking page. When we find a booking like this, we close it.

Before an automatic check-out, we usually send a reminder so you can confirm pick-up or extend your storage.

What you are charged

  • Hourly rate (pay as you go): the time up to the automatic check-out. Hourly bookings are not capped at the daily rate.

  • Daily rate: the days on your booking.

  • Bookings closed later: storage is counted as one day at most, however long the booking stayed open, plus anything else that was on your booking, such as optional insurance.

  • At hotels where storage is free: you are only charged for extras that were on the booking, such as optional insurance.

You always get a receipt by email showing what was charged. Nothing more is charged for the storage on that booking afterwards.

When the charge is made

Usually the charge is made right away when the booking ends. Sometimes a charge is completed later, for example when a booking was closed some time after your stay or an earlier payment attempt didn't go through. The receipt shows the date of your stay and the booking reference.

If something looks wrong

If you don't recognise the booking, you collected your bags earlier, or you think the amount isn't right, contact us in the chat on this page with the booking reference from your receipt, and we'll look into it.
