Why do I see two transactions or a duplicate charge on my bank statement?

Duplicate charge? It’s just a temporary reserve, not an extra payment.

Updated this week

If you notice what appears to be a duplicate charge or two transactions from LuggageHero on your bank statement, don’t worry - you are not charged twice.

When you create a booking, LuggageHero places a reserve amount (also called a payment authorization) on your payment method. This is standard practice to confirm that funds are available:

  • Daily bookings: We reserve the day rate per bag + service fees.

  • Hourly bookings: We reserve the equivalent of 2 hours per bag + service fees.

This reserved amount is temporary and may appear on your account as a pending or duplicate charge. The actual amount you owe is calculated when you pick up your luggage and complete the storage. At that point:

  • The final charge is processed based on the total time used and the number of bags.

  • The reserve amount disappears (your bank releases it, usually within a few business days).

You are only charged once, for the final confirmed total of your booking.

If the pending reserve amount does not disappear after a few business days, we recommend you contact your bank or card issuer, as processing times may vary by financial institution.
